“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary” (Isaiah 40:31 CEB).
Hayley, our youngest, just turned three. She’s growing up and I’m growing old. We’re getting to the point where I have to tell her I can’t pick her up and carry her around as often as she’d like. She loves being swept into the air and held tight with a view from six feet off the ground. When she’s tired and ready for sleep she loves being able to float effortlessly up the stairs to her bed.
“Up please, Dada!”
It breaks my heart saying no, but not as much as it will break my back if I keep saying yes.
Lucky for Hayley, she has another father in heaven whose time and energy isn’t limited like mine. God never gets sore or exhausted. God is never out of shape. There will never ever be any problem in Hayley’s life too big for God to carry.
O Lord, we are often tempted to seek help in the wrong places from the wrong people. Help us to trust in you. Renew our strength so we may carry on in Jesus’ name. Amen.
